Cameras
Cameras are not the centre of a DewCrest system; they are its eyes.
We place them where they can confirm events, verify disturbances, and support shutters and alarms—not as decoration, and not as a substitute for physical measures.
Somfy’s camera range integrates directly with Somfy Home Alarm, Somfy Home Alarm Advanced, Somfy One/One+, and the TaHoma Switch platform. In practice, that means a disturbance at a shutter can activate the relevant camera, and an alarm event can be recorded and displayed without delay.
The collections below are organised by scenario—where cameras provide clarity and direction within a wider physical security arrangement.
Applications
Façade & Shutter-Linked Cameras
Certain façades carry more risk than others—street-facing storefronts, rear garden elevations, balcony doors and large glass openings. Cameras positioned here work closely with shutters and IntelliTAG sensors.
When a shutter is disturbed or forced:
-
The corresponding camera wakes immediately
-
Its feed is highlighted within the Somfy app
-
Exterior lighting can activate through TaHoma
-
Any partial shutter movement is captured for later review
This arrangement is particularly effective for:
-
Large terrace and balcony doors
-
Ground-floor glazing exposed to the street
-
Shopfronts protected by perforated shutters
-
Secondary garden doors and service entries
It forms a visual record of the moment when the physical perimeter is tested.
Internal Chokepoint Cameras
We avoid placing cameras casually inside living spaces. Instead, we position them at transition points—hallways, stair cores, reception desks, staff corridors or internal lobbies where movement should be rare or controlled.
These cameras support the alarm system when:
-
A perimeter has already been breached
-
A specific internal door or shutter is opened
-
A safe room, archive, storage room or office requires monitoring
Somfy Indoor Cameras and Somfy One/One+ units can record only when a relevant sensor or shutter triggers, maintaining privacy while providing essential situational awareness when needed.
This configuration suits homes with multiple access points, offices with sensitive internal rooms, and small commercial premises where a single interior approach must be monitored.
Night Verification Cameras
Night presents a different set of problems: reduced visibility, quiet intrusion, and uncertainty about what triggered a sensor. Cameras configured for night verification operate differently.
Somfy Outdoor Cameras, paired with sensor-linked lighting, create clear, monochrome or softly illuminated footage that clarifies events without flooding the property with light.
When an alarm is set to Night Mode:
-
Cameras activate only for designated triggers
-
Shutters on exposed elevations may close
-
Entry cameras record any approach to the façade
-
Footage is stored securely and can be accessed remotely
This arrangement is ideal for estates, gardens, private paths, and areas where wildlife and genuine intrusion must be distinguished without endless notifications.
Away & Travel Cameras
When a property is empty, cameras shift from occasional observers to part of the core security response.
In Away Mode, shutters close, alarms arm fully, and cameras assume a more assertive role:
-
Any IntelliTAG signal at a shutter triggers immediate recording
-
Door-opening detection activates interior or exterior cameras
-
Lighting scenes reinforce visibility
-
Video clips are prioritised in the Somfy app for quick review
With Somfy’s integration, cameras deliver clarity rather than a stream of notifications. They show you exactly what triggered the system and whether any further action is needed.
This is essential for secondary residences, homes during travel, boutique commercial premises, and properties left in the care of staff.
Secure Room & Sensitive-Area Cameras
Some interior spaces are monitored not for intrusion from outside, but for controlled access from within—studies, storerooms, IT closets, archives, or safe rooms.
These cameras activate only under specific conditions, such as:
-
A restricted shutter or door opening
-
A code entered incorrectly
-
Movement detected in a room that should be empty
-
An override or panic signal
Somfy Indoor Cameras or One/One+ units can record discreetly without being obtrusive during everyday use, supporting both physical shutters and access control.
This configuration is recommended for homes with staff circulation, professional offices handling sensitive material, and any building with internal zones that merit separation.
Cameras Designed as Part of the System
Cameras must be placed with intent, not quantity.
In a DewCrest system, Somfy cameras respond to shutters, alarms and lighting:
-
They confirm the moment a shutter or door is disturbed
-
They illuminate or record exactly when needed
-
They remain silent when privacy is required
-
They form one layer in an integrated defensive arrangement
The goal is not to be watched, but to have clarity when something matters.
